Branksome Gardens, City Beach 2015

An unusual triangular shaped sloping site (590m²) contains a substantial family home. The house is wrapped towards the north which protects the main outdoor living spaces from strong winds. Extended concrete eaves to the west shield the internal areas from western sun whilst providing a strong coastal design aesthetic.

A basement houses the cars and general storage enabling the ground floor to be better utilised for indoor and multiple outdoor living options (depending on sun and wind conditions). A robust palette of materials involves aluminium cladding, off form concrete, rendered brickwork. External aluminium blinds control the westerly sun. Builder: Cottesloe Constructions
