St Leonards, West Leederville
St Leonards, West Leederville 2010
A narrow 7.5m wide south facing site with a large existing double story parapet wall to the north. Getting natural light into the house was the biggest challenge and has been resolved with the use of roof lights and strategically placed voids thru the building. A large roof light placed over the double volume dining room floods the centre of the house with natural light. Sun and heat are controlled by a remote external louvre.
The planning is uncomplicated with a circulation spine to the north side allowing all rooms access to windows on the south. A large living/dining/kitchen area opens out to west facing court and pool. Western sun is controlled with large overhangs and external remote awnings.
