Baudin Drive, Gnarabup 2007

Built on a large 2000m² site overlooking the ocean, this residence was designed as a comfortable family home that reflected and respected its immediate environment and site conditions. The clients desire to maximize ocean views required an 'upside down' design with the living areas on the upper floor. Maximising the height of this upper floor necessitated a flatter roof design to work with-in council height restrictions.

Large north facing upper deck is the centrepiece of the upper floor and is orientated to the breakwater views beyond. The deck is predominantly shielded from the strong south-westerly breezes by the main living areas. Views to the south and west are controlled and framed, thus screening potential blank walls of neighbouring houses and controlling the western sun.
